Simon Morley

Managing Director, DGSA

Having a background in Technical Theatre and Secondary Education if you would have asked me 20 years ago; do I envisage running a Domestic Haulage business? I would have thought you were mad. After leaving the Education Sector I moved onto a job in Freight Forwarding in our sister company. I worked specifically on the Iberian department dealing mainly with Andorra, Gibraltar, Madrid and Barcelona.

It’s now 20 years later and I am happy to be leading Ital Transport UK Ltd, a unique domestic haulage company that specialises in the transport of Dangerous Goods. As part of my leadership vision, I feel that it is important that management should have first-hand knowledge of the job. Therefore I, as well as being a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA), have also completed my driver training and ADR driver training. If you’re very lucky you could quite likely see me out and about on the road leading by example. Building on my previous knowledge and skills from the education sector I offer onsite training to all employees from the ‘Ital Group’ on varying subjects; from driver’s hours and compliance, through to Dangerous Goods awareness training. I also provide Dangerous Goods consultancy services to our customer base.

We have a happy, experienced and dedicated team of drivers and office staff who truly are professionals within the industry. Outside of the office in my ‘spare time’ I am a magistrate, a Scout
Leader and a keen fell walker and can often be found on wet and windy hills in the Lake district.

Phil Denton

Director, DGSA

Phil’s background since leaving school in 1978 has been a combination of various jobs within the freight industry, plus organist/keyboard player in many clubs and pubs around Manchester. Between 1978 and 1983 he worked for several companies in the Ocean Freight sector dealing with Canada & Malta, plus general forwarding anywhere & everywhere. After a short spell as full time musician between 1983 & 1986, in 1989, the company he was working for at that time started an Italian service which he was to control. This was the start of his development in the Italian market which eventually led to the foundation of Ital Logistics, and subsequently Ital Transport (UK).

Whilst no longer playing music as a profession, he still enjoys playing and recording music at home. And when the weather allows, he occasionally humiliates himself playing golf

Tom Stockley

Transport Operations Manager

Favourite Sport: Football
Team: Manchester United

Tom has been in the industry for some 8 years prior to joining Ital Transport UK, having learnt most aspects of forwarding on a post-graduate scheme at his previous employer. His recent 6 years were spent on the domestic transport side, becoming a senior transport planner.

Having met Tom in 2019 when he was sitting his DGSA exams, he left an imprint as someone who would fit nicely into our company should we venture into domestic UK transport. It would have come sooner but for the recent pandemic, but better late than never, here he is!

Tom is a Manchester United fan (oh no, not another…) and a keen gamer. Now he has half a dozen trucks to play with.

Charlotte Barker

Transport Planner and Administration

Favourite Sport: Walking with Jr the Chocolate Labrador.

Charlotte is the youngest members of the team, joining us with no previous experience in the transport industry. Taking to her work like a duck to water, she has been a very welcome member of the team. She even occasionally will bring her chocolate Labrador ‘Jr’ into the office.

Charlotte is the niece of Kevin (Class 1 driver) building on the family ethos that our company is based around. Charlotte’s favourite food has to be Hash Browns (preferably from McDonalds) and she can more often than not be found hiding them in her desk drawers!

Keith Henderson

Driver Class 1

Favourite Sport: Motor GP
Favourite Sport Person: Carl Fogarty

Keith is one of our Class one drivers. Having had a lifetime on the job he is a true wealth of knowledge.  Nothing is too much trouble for Keith, he will go out of his way to ensure his deliveries, and collections go as smoothly as possible.

Keith is a font of knowledge who knows off the top of his head, how to get to nearly every East Lancashire company!

Kevin Diack

Driver Class 1

Favourite Sport: Fishing
Favourite Fish: Carp

Kevin is one of our Class one drivers. He, like all our other drivers, has many years of experience under his belt.

Kevin is a bit of a magician as no matter how many jobs you give him or wherever you send him he always is back in the transport office by 14:00. We just do not know how he does it! Seriously, though, Kevin’s attention to detail and enthusiasm is a breath of fresh air.

When not driving his DAF unit, Kevin can usually be spotted towing his caravan for a nice weekend escape.

Josh Cassidy

Driver Class 1

Favourite Sport: Football
Team: Barnsley

Josh joined the company as one of our class two drivers. Having recently passed his class one, Josh can be seen in any of our fleet vehicles. As you can tell by the football team that he supports he originates from Yorkshire.

Having worked in the industry for a number of years Josh has a wealth of experience that he applies to his job with us.

Chris Smith

Driver Class 2, Class 1 Relief

Favourite Sport: Football
Team: Manchester United

Chris started at Ital Transport as a class two driver. After a year with us he soon passed his class one. Although he will usually be driving one of our 26t rigid vehicles on a regular basis, he is always ready to hop into one of the artics if needed.

Passionate about Football, Chris is another Manchester United Fan! Chris has a wealth of knowledge and a fantastic amount of experience in multidrop domestic haulage.  Having worked in the sector for 7 years you can rest assured that your goods are in safe hands.

Keeping on the family ethos of our company, Chris is the Brother-in-law of Chris Crowther one of our warehouse operatives.

Steven Peace

Driver Class 2

Favourite Sport: Rugby League
Team: Rochdale Hornets

Stevie is one of those drivers that takes his work in his stride. Confident, reliable and a font of knowledge of all things truck related. Stevie drives one of our four Renault 26t rigid vehicles equipped with a tail lift. Stevie is a key asset to our driving team ensuring that we offer a service that is simply at another level.

In his spare time he is rugby league mad and can often be spotted on the terraces watching the mighty Rochdale Hornets.

Carl Frain

Driver Class 2

Favourite Sport: F1
Favourite Sports Person: lewis hamilton

Carl joined the Ital Transport family in May 2023. Having many years of experience under his belt he has hit the road like a duck to water.

Carl joined our team at a time when we are expanding our fleet and taking on additional 26t vehicles. As a result he can be seen on the road in one of our new 26t tail lift vehicles.

As standard with our drivers Carl is fully ADR trained and a welcome new member to our driving group.

Stuart Haughan

Driver Class 2

Favourite Sport: TBA
Team: TBA

Stuart joined the company in September 2024 after having previously been driving for a Agency.

He has a can do attitude and already has demonstrated his good knowledge within the sector. Stuart currently drives one of our Renault 26t vehicles with underslung tail lift.

Ian Horridge

Express Driver

Favourite Sport: Football
Team: Manchester United

Ian is our Van driver. Although one of our smaller vehicles he makes up for size in mileage each day. Regularly doing multi drops and collection, he ensures that our smaller shipments are delivered/collected on time.

Ian has recently completed his ADR (dangerous goods by Road) training courses and is enjoying the new challenge of working at Ital Transport.
