Company Description: Part of the Ital group of companies, Ital Transport UK is a domestic transport company that specialises in the safe and efficient movement of Dangerous Goods throughout the UK. We operate our own fleet of vehicles that vary in size from vans through to HGV’s.
We are now recruiting for a domestic transport Planner at our Heywood operating centre on a full time, permanent basis. The applicant must have a full UK Driving license, and have experience in planning multi drop vehicles. The applicant ideally must have knowledge of the transport of Dangerous Goods although they will be working alongside out company Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors.

Key Responsibilities
– Route Optimization & Scheduling: Plan, manage, and adjust daily delivery routes, collections, and vehicle trunking to maximize efficiency.
– Operational Coordination: Liaise with drivers, subcontractors, and warehouses to ensure timely deliveries and resolve issues like vehicle breakdowns or traffic delays.
– Data Analysis & Reporting: Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as vehicle utilization, fuel usage, and on-time delivery rates.
– Customer Service: Manage client expectations, handle urgent ad-hoc bookings, and resolve service failures.
– Compliance: Ensure all vehicles and drivers comply with domestic transport regulations, including working hours and safety standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
– Experience: Previous experience in logistics, transport planning is essential.
– Software Proficiency: You must have strong proficiency in using Microsoft products and familiar with web based platforms such as but not excluding Haulage Hub, Web Fleet and Tru Tac.
– Geographical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the domestic road network.
– Communication: Ability to communicate clearly with drivers and clients.
Working Hours
The base working hours for this role will be 08:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday (40hr Per Week). As part of the position, additional hours may be required from time to time to fulfil your duties.

Starting salary £36,000 to be reviewed on completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 6 months.
