Mechanics of the future

Posted by Simon Morley

Saturday 16th September was a morning with a difference at our Heywood operating centre. We were pleased to be able to welcome 1st Read & Simonstone Scout Group.

The Scouts wanted to complete their mechanics badge, and we were more than happy to show them around the operating centre.

They were shown how to conduct vehicle checks (a vital part of a drivers day) and even replaced a few lightbulbs along the way. The Scouts also looked at the importance of roadworthiness on our vehicle fleet and explored measures ensuring the fleet is always in tip top condition.

The morning finished with each of the Scouts taking to the drivers seat completing a simple yard manoeuvre (under the watchful eye of our Managing Director). The experience also gave these young people an insight into the hard work of our UK drivers.

It’s fantastic to be able to facilitate such a visit and we are very pleased that we could support these Scouts in gaining their Mechanics badge.

FORS Accredited Operator

Posted by Simon Morley

Over the past few months we have been working to achieve the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Bronze Standard. After recently taking part in our FORS Bronze audit we are pleased to advise that we have successfully met the requirements.

Meeting the FORS Bronze standard is a great achievement for our company. Not only does it demonstrate our willingness to operate efficiently and effectively, it has also given us the opportunity to truly improve our operation. We have always aimed to operate at a standard that is better than the norm. Achieving the FORS Bronze standard is yet another feather in our cap.

Simon Morley, Managing Director

So what is FORS all about?
FORS helps businesses improve operator safety, fuel efficiency and vehicle emissions. It also helps embed economical operations throughout. Put simply – FORS is a voluntary accreditation scheme that is an effective way to demonstrate to clients you are a high-performing operator who seeks to instil industry-leading best practice.

FORS gives you peace of mind and helps you to demonstrate exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency and environmental protection. We provide a quality and performance benchmark for all fleet operators and offer a range of exclusive accreditation benefits.

Managing Director to raise funds for Cancer Support

Posted by Simon Morley

Our Managing Director Simon Morley, is again walking the Macmillan mighty hike. Last year Simon managed to reach his goal and raise over £200 by walking the Lake District mighty hike. This year with even bigger aims, he will be taking on the Yorkshire Dales mighty hike. Here is what he has to say:

I am happy to be taking part in the Yorkshire Dales mighty hike this year. Any monies raised will go to support the vital work undertaken by Macmillan Cancer Support.

Cancer is something that affects us all at some point in our lives. The support offered by Macmillan is a true God send to those that need it.

I understand that times are quite hard at the moment for many of us, although if you could offer some sponsorship, it would be truly appreciated.

Simon Morley (Managing Director)

This year’s hike will see Simon taking on the hills and dales of north Yorkshire. Rising to heights of 1312ft and passing through Mallam, Hetton , Grassington and finishing at Hebden.

Ribble Valley Truck Run – A Resounding Success!!

Posted by Simon Morley

Can you picture this? It’s a Glorious Easter Sunday with sun streaming down in the picturesque Ribble Valley! Only one thing can make this better…. the annual Ribble Valley Truck Run. Ital Transport were delighted to be able to take part this year, supporting the truck run in raising funds for the charity, Friends of Serenity.

With 179 trucks taking part we knew that we were in for a great day. Setting off from Gisburn Auction shortly before 13:00 we soon passed though the villages of Chatburn, Billington, Whalley and finished with two laps of Clitheroe. The Run was watched by thousands of people who lined the route with some holding up placards asking drivers to honk! Bridges were full with spectators on the A59 as well. Believe it or not along the route their were even some people in fancy dress.

A fantastic amount of money was raised for the charity Friends Of Serenity. We would like to thank all the event organisers and can’t wait until 2024! Why not take a look at some photos taken during the event by members of the public:

Investing in our frontline staff

Posted by Simon Morley

Investing in our frontline staff is key to our success as a business. Having well trained, happy and knowledgeable drivers is one of the reasons why we are emerging as a driving force within domestic transport in the North West.

We are extremely proud that Josh, one of our class two drivers, has now successfully progressed onto his class one. Josh will not be leaving the 26t vehicles immediately. Although as our fleet continues to grow it wont be long until he has his own class one vehicle.

Staff development and progression is an underpinning principle of our business. We were happy that we were able to support Josh in his progression.

Well done Josh!

HM Queen Elizabeth II

Posted by Simon Morley

It was with immense sadness that many of us watched events unfold yesterday, eventually receiving confirmation that our longest reigning monarch, HM Queen Elizabeth II, had died.

Her unparalleled and unstinting service to our country for the last seventy years has been truly remarkable. Embracing her role with great dignity, she became admired, loved and respected the world over. Yesterday will be recorded as one of the saddest days in history.

Our thoughts are with the Royal Family and all around them, and we offer them our most sincere condolences at this saddest of times.

Director walks a Mighty Hike

Posted by Simon Morley

Company Director Simon Morley took to the hills on Sunday the 19th June 2022. Simon took part in the Lake District mighty hike to help raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Walking a half marathon up and down the rugged terrain of Soulby, Wreay, Gowbarrow Fell, Aira Force and Glenridding is no easy task. Simon and his team of walkers (all of whom are Leaders from 1st Read and Simonstone Scout Group), managed to raise well over £2000 for Macmillan.

Next year Simon is keen to progress on to the full marathon again supporting such a fantastic Cancer Charity.

Thankyou to everyone who supported the fundraising event. Your kind donations were very much appreciated.

Ital Transport helps with Ukrainian aid

Posted by admin

Many local communities have been rallying around to donate aid to Ukrainian refugees. While international transport seems to be hitting the media, and appear to be organised fairly well through official charities, how are the donations getting to the correct distribution hubs in the UK?

During March, Simon Morley, managing director, contacted Chorley and District Support for the Ukraine, a community group that has been receiving aid donations from Lancashire residents and consolidating them onto pallets.

It became apparent that they needed help domestically, in getting their palletised aid from their makeshift warehouse in Chorley to the International Aid Trust warehouse in Lockstock Hall. Ital Transport UK was able to provide a 26t tail lift truck for the day to transfer this vital aid, completing the final link in the supply chain to get the goods away to where they are needed.
