As many of our readers who visit our news pages regularly will already know, come Christmas, instead of corporate gifts we use the money to make several donations to various charities, mainly those that are small and generally unsupported by government or other large donors.
This year we have supported four charities listed below.
Ashleigh and Dean delivered our contribution personally, and were able to see first hand the positive impact they have within the local community, as well as the families they support.
We cannot support every charity, but where we can, we like to ‘do our bit’, whether that be at Christmas or throughout the year.
Today (Tuesday 14th October 2025) our Managing Director Simon Morley attended a historic capping ceremony in the City of London.
Simon was welcomed into the Worshipful Company of Carmen in what is referred to as a ‘capping’ ceremony. During the ceremony he was ‘capped’ and welcomed as a freemen of the Worshipful Company of Carmen.
The event was made even more special by the vast variety of sector members who were also being granted the title of freeman in the company.
What is the Worshipful Company of Carmen? The Worshipful Company of Carmen is one of the 112 livery companies in the City of London and it dates back to 1517. Today it is one of the largest with over 600 members, who are committed to charitable generosity.
The Carmen represent a wide range of aspects within the transport and logistics sector and continue to promote fellowship among those engaged in the industry and to those from a wider range of disciplines and professions.
They generously support and promote achievement and the advancement of knowledge in the transport and logistics profession through awards, lectures and social activities.
The Company and its charitable Trusts are based at Carmen’s Hall, in Fleet Street, in the City of London, near the Royal Courts of Justice, Inner Temple and the historic centre of national media.
The Worshipful Company of Carmen supports and serves this dynamic profession through benevolence and historic fellowship as we continue to adapt and evolve to meet the challenges of today’s transport and logistics industry.
Over the past week we have had a number of celebrations for our employees and supporters to celebrate our 25th year of operation.
The Ital Group comprises of both Ital Logistics limited and Ital Transport (UK) Limited. Ital logistics founded in 2000 has offered freight forwarding solutions for Europe and beyond. Specialising in the transport of dangerous goods. When linked with sister company, Ital Transport (UK), we are now able to offer a full service door to door on our own vehicles.
Kicking off the celebratory event was a birthday bash at our Heywood Operating centre. We welcomed industry bodies including the Road Haulage Association (RHA), who brought their driver training simulator. In addition we welcomed distinguished guests from The British International Freight Association (BIFA). The celebration was a lovely event where employees and stakeholders were able to mix with selected supporters and business partners in a relaxed atmosphere. Pizza, ice cream, coffee and cake were all available.
The celebrations came to a head on Sunday 3rd of August where employees and their families were invited to families day at Chester races. It was fantastic to get everyone together for a superb day of family fun in order to celebrate the success of the past 25 years.
During the event we also celebrated the long service of Steve Bossons who has now completed 20 years employment with Ital.
The future looks bright and here is to another 25 years leading the industry!
Over the Easter bank holiday Ital Transport (UK) again took part in the Ribble Valley Truck Run. This years truck run was raising funds to support two charities (4×4 Community Response and The foundation for Ribble Valley Families).
Work started early on Good Friday polishing the trucks and giving them a deep clean. Simon our MD did a sterling effort from Friday evening to Sunday morning detailing the 2 x DAF units and 4 x 26t Rigids that we were entering this year.
Sunday morning came and the sun was shining down on us. After leaving the yard in convoy we made our way up to the start of the truck run at Gisburn Auction. Throughout the morning more and more trucks arrived with well over 230 taking part!!
13:00 came and it was time to depart. Thousands of people were lining the streets and bridges over the A59 cheering and waving as the spectacular convoy of trucks went past. All in all a fantastic day! Big shout out to our company drivers who took part and showed the fleet with such pride!
For the third year in row Managing Director Simon Morley donned his walking boots to take part in the MacMillan Mighty Hike. This year is was the turn for the Northumberland mighty hike.
It was an early start for the team having to be at the assembly point for 07:30 as were in the first wave setting off at 08:00 (on a Sunday morning)! Whilst at the start line and grabbing an essential hot cup of coffee we heard over the P.A System that this weekends hike had already raised over £1,000,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support….. WOW!
The weather was very kind to us through the hike. A small army of volunteers ensured we kept on route and the hundreds of hikers (wearing green tops) weaved their way through the spectacular Northumberland coast.
Where next year…. It’s looking very likely it will be the Jurassic coast mighty hike! Simon was walking as part of a team of Scout Leaders from his local Scout Group who annually raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support. His fellow walkers this year were Martin Roberts and Nick Maclean All of whom are leaders at 1st Read and Simonstone BBS and BGS Scout Group.
Thankyou to all who have supported us in this fundraiser.
Moving dangerous goods is a integral and core part of our business! Moving them safely even more so. The Ital Group of companies benefit from having no less than six Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors based at our Heywood operating centre.
Our Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors (DGSA’s) are spread throughout all levels of our operation. As key with our ethos, the people in charge must also show the expert competence and knowledge that we would expect specialists across the sector to have. I suppose its the old analogy of not asking others to do what your not prepared to do yourself.
Ital Transport (UK) limited Managing Director, Simon Morley, is a DGSA as well as Dean Emsley Ital Logistics Managing Director, both showing this foresight and knowledge.
On receipt of Simons most recent qualification renewal he stated;
It is lovely to work in a company where we take the carriage of Dangerous Goods seriously. In fact we quite enjoy the speciality of the particular sector. Transporting dangerous goods correctly and safely is key to what we do, we enjoy the extra challenges that sometimes present themselves.
You have to be a ‘special’ type of person to take an interest in the transport of Dangerous Goods and the passion amongst our dedicated team of DGSA’s is second to none.
Simon Morley, DGSA, Managing Director, Ital Transport UK Limited,
Ital Transport (UK) Limited runs a full fleet of ADR compliant vehicles. With our vast team of experts we can also offer you advice on documentation and packaging. We will ensure that your shipment, no matter how small or large arrives safely at its destination.
Last week we exhibited at the NEC at the subject exhibition for the third year running. Showcasing many of the biggest chemical manufacturers worldwide, we were pleased to see many of our customers also exhibiting, and many others came to visit us at our stand.
Being associated with the carriage of dangerous goods since inception, being able to demonstrate our bespoke software – the HAZculator – and how we go about our planning of mixed dangerous goods loads proved of great interest to many. The software is available as a standalone self service application for any company that may be interested in this.

We were also pleased to demonstrate our new carbon emissions solution – the CO2ulator – which uses more accurate data than just ‘general HGV’ and ‘average laden’. Our aim is to be able to provide near-accurate CO2e emissions to our clients with periodic reports to suit their requirements. At no extra cost to our clients, we feel that this adds value to our offering by assisting them with one of the more difficult Scope 3 emissions tasks.
We were pleased to have some of our Italian partners present and they are pictured above. From left to right: John Bowes, Carlotta Surano, Emanuele Tagliareni, Dario Bragonzi, Phil Denton, Mike Whitney and Simon Morley.
Ital Transport UK Limited again took part in the Ribble Valley Truck Run this year. The chosen charity was Pendleside Hospice. The truck run was held on Easter Sunday and hundreds of trucks attended.
Our drivers spent the two days prior to the truck run ensuring that our vehicles were looking at their best. The event has already raised in excess of £8000 for Pendleside Hospice this year.
It was fantastic to meet friends old and new amongst hauliers from all over the North West. Roll on 2025!!
Our whole fleet is now fitted with new advanced tracking technology. The new trackers give accurate real-time information on the location of our fleet. With the help of our new technology we are now also able to give accurate information on the CO2 emissions for your shipments as well as Live tracking links that you can share with your customers. In addition we are also able to store historic vehicle runs should you have any question about delivery times after we have delivered.
Live tracking Links: We are able to provide you with a live tracking link for your shipment showing real-time movement of the vehicle and estimated arrival times. You can share these links with your customers to ensure they are kept fully informed of where their goods are. Once the vehicle has reached its destination the link will stop working to ensure confidentiality for all our customers.
We are also able to store historic vehicle runs for all our vehicles. This gives us a better oversight of when and where our drivers have been. This gives you, as our customers, accurate information about when vehicles have arrived and where.
Class 2 driver Christopher Smith has over the past few months been training to pass his Class 1. After his initial online training followed by hands on sessions he was ready to take the test. Not only did he pass on his first attempt, he also got no minor faults! WELL DONE CHRIS!
As a FORS Bronze operator Ital Transport (UK) Limited takes staff development and progression seriously. As part of Chris’ Annual Professional Development Plan, the opportunity for upskilling his license was explored and acted upon.
In partnership with the Road Haulage Association (RHA) a suitable training provider was found and Chris soon began on his journey to Class 1.
“Upskilling and professional development is key to how we operate as a company. Ital Transport (UK) strives to be at the top of its game, employing well trained and skilled drivers who take great care over their work. The manner in which Chris has recently passed is testament to this mentality, and is akin to our company goals. Congratulations Chris.”
Simon Morley – Managing Director Ital Transport (UK) Limited
