For the third year in row Managing Director Simon Morley donned his walking boots to take part in the MacMillan Mighty Hike. This year is was the turn for the Northumberland mighty hike.

It was an early start for the team having to be at the assembly point for 07:30 as were in the first wave setting off at 08:00 (on a Sunday morning)! Whilst at the start line and grabbing an essential hot cup of coffee we heard over the P.A System that this weekends hike had already raised over £1,000,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support….. WOW!

The weather was very kind to us through the hike. A small army of volunteers ensured we kept on route and the hundreds of hikers (wearing green tops) weaved their way through the spectacular Northumberland coast.

Its not too late to support this mighty hike, even though it is over. I have included the fundraising link HERE.

Where next year…. It’s looking very likely it will be the Jurassic coast mighty hike! Simon was walking as part of a team of Scout Leaders from his local Scout Group who annually raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support. His fellow walkers this year were Martin Roberts and Nick Maclean All of whom are leaders at 1st Read and Simonstone BBS and BGS Scout Group.

Last week we exhibited at the NEC at the subject exhibition for the third year running. Showcasing many of the biggest chemical manufacturers worldwide, we were pleased to see many of our customers also exhibiting, and many others came to visit us at our stand.

Being associated with the carriage of dangerous goods since inception, being able to demonstrate our bespoke software – the HAZculator – and how we go about our planning of mixed dangerous goods loads proved of great interest to many. The software is available as a standalone self service application for any company that may be interested in this.

We were also pleased to demonstrate our new carbon emissions solution – the CO2ulator – which uses more accurate data than just ‘general HGV’ and ‘average laden’. Our aim is to be able to provide near-accurate CO2e emissions to our clients with periodic reports to suit their requirements. At no extra cost to our clients, we feel that this adds value to our offering by assisting them with one of the more difficult Scope 3 emissions tasks.

Ital Transport UK Limited again took part in the Ribble Valley Truck Run this year. The chosen charity was Pendleside Hospice. The truck run was held on Easter Sunday and hundreds of trucks attended.

Our drivers spent the two days prior to the truck run ensuring that our vehicles were looking at their best. The event has already raised in excess of £8000 for Pendleside Hospice this year.

It was fantastic to meet friends old and new amongst hauliers from all over the North West. Roll on 2025!!

Our whole fleet is now fitted with new advanced tracking technology. The new trackers give accurate real-time information on the location of our fleet. With the help of our new technology we are now also able to give accurate information on the CO2 emissions for your shipments as well as Live tracking links that you can share with your customers. In addition we are also able to store historic vehicle runs should you have any question about delivery times after we have delivered.

Live tracking Links: We are able to provide you with a live tracking link for your shipment showing real-time movement of the vehicle and estimated arrival times. You can share these links with your customers to ensure they are kept fully informed of where their goods are. Once the vehicle has reached its destination the link will stop working to ensure confidentiality for all our customers.

We are also able to store historic vehicle runs for all our vehicles. This gives us a better oversight of when and where our drivers have been. This gives you, as our customers, accurate information about when vehicles have arrived and where.

Class 2 driver Christopher Smith has over the past few months been training to pass his Class 1. After his initial online training followed by hands on sessions he was ready to take the test. Not only did he pass on his first attempt, he also got no minor faults! WELL DONE CHRIS!

As a FORS Bronze operator Ital Transport (UK) Limited takes staff development and progression seriously. As part of Chris’ Annual Professional Development Plan, the opportunity for upskilling his license was explored and acted upon.

In partnership with the Road Haulage Association (RHA) a suitable training provider was found and Chris soon began on his journey to Class 1.

Ital Transport (UK) Limited were pleased to be able to attend this years Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) conference. As a proud member of the Scheme (Accredited to FORS Bronze), we were eager to attend this years conference, and it did not disappoint.

The Conference welcomed Key speakers such as Richard Turfitt (The Senior Traffic Commissioner). Richard gave a great insight into the role of the Traffic Commissioner, as well as highlighting our responsibilities as responsible operators. 

Other speakers included Paul Fox from the Fox Group, Mark Cartwright the Head of Commercial Vehicle Incident Prevention Team, Marian Kitson Director of DVSA Enforcement and Shireen Ali-Khan from Women in transport. All whom were very inspirational speakers.

The event was not only a great time to be able to speak with colleagues within the industry, but also helps us as a company keep striving for that extra level above other operators. It truly is a breath of fresh air to be surrounded by likeminded hauliers who constantly strive to improve. Being amongst others that also want to do that little extra to become greener, safer and more efficient hauliers, is really something to be celebrated.

A Lancashire primary school (Simonstone St Peter’s) has been raising funds to purchase a School minibus. Sadly towards the end of last term their main funding stream was removed and the minibus was put in doubt. After the School reached out to local businesses, Ital Transport were happy to bridge this funding gap to secure this vital asset for the School.

The minibus was delivered personally by David Fishwick better known for the Netflix film ‘Bank of Dave’. This was a great surprise to the children who did not know that funding had been secured for the minibus. During the summer holidays the children had also been trying to raise funds themselves.

It was a great pleasure to be able to join other companies in making the minibus possible. We know that the children will have many great educational adventures ahead.
